1. About these terms
Averages.io is an independent app made and run by a student developer in California. It is
not made by, endorsed by or affiliated with your school, or with the company behind your
school's learning platform.
These terms are an agreement between you and Averages.io. By using Averages.io, you agree to
them. If you do not agree, please do not use it. Section headings are only there to help you
find your way around and do not change what the terms say.
You can reach us about anything in these terms, including legal notices, at
help@averages.io.
2. Who can use it
You need your own account with your school's learning platform to use Averages.io, and you
may only sign in with that account. Your school controls that account, so if your school
removes it or turns off access for outside apps, Averages.io will stop working for you.
Anyone can use Averages.io in Incognito mode, which stores nothing about you. Classic and paid
plans store information about you and connect to other services, so you must be at least 13
years old to use them. We ask for your age before you sign in, and if you are under 13 you can
only use Incognito mode. If we learn that someone under 13 is using another plan, we will move
them to Incognito mode and delete what that plan stored.
Your account is for you alone. Do not share your sign-in with anyone, and keep it private.
You are responsible for what happens while you are signed in. If you think someone else has
used your account, sign out and let us know at
help@averages.io.
3. What Averages.io does
Averages.io shows you information your school already makes available to you, such as your
courses, grades, assignments and calendar, in a different layout.
It is not your school's official record. If anything in Averages.io differs from what your
school or teacher shows you, your school's version is the correct one.
4. Projected grades
Projected grades are estimates worked out from the trend in your recent graded work. They are
not something your school has calculated, and they are not a promise of any final grade. Please
do not rely on them for decisions that matter.
5. Using it fairly
When using Averages.io, you agree not to:
- sign in with an account that is not yours, share your account, or try to access anyone
else's information
- try to break, overload or get around the security or limits of Averages.io or your
school's systems
- use bots, scrapers or other automated tools to access Averages.io or collect data from
it
- upload viruses or any other harmful code
- sell, rent or charge others for access to Averages.io
- upload images that are inappropriate, or that you do not have the right to use
- harass, threaten or pretend to be anyone else
- use Averages.io in a way that breaks your school's rules, or for anything unlawful
Averages.io reserves the right to suspend or remove access from any user who breaks these
rules.
6. Your content
Anything you add to Averages.io, such as a profile photo, a background image or course
nicknames, stays yours. You give Averages.io permission to store, process and show it only so
the app can work for you, and that permission ends when you delete it.
You must have the right to use anything you upload. We may remove content that breaks these
terms.
7. Ideas and feedback
We love hearing ideas and bug reports. If you send us feedback, including through our
community on GitHub, we may use it to improve Averages.io without owing you anything for it.
Posts on GitHub are public, so please do not include anything private.
8. Other services
Averages.io works with your school's learning platform, and may connect to other services you
choose to use. Those services have their own terms and privacy policies, and your use of them is
covered by those rather than by these. We are not responsible for how they work or for any
changes they make.
9. Changes to Averages.io
Averages.io is still growing, so we may add, change or remove features at any time.
Averages.io depends on access to your school's learning platform, which can be changed or
withdrawn by others at short notice. We may also decide to stop running Averages.io. If it
shuts down, we will try to let you know ahead of time, and we will delete everything we
store.
10. Ending your use
You can stop using Averages.io at any time. The Your data page
shows how to delete what is on your device and what we store.
If we suspend or remove your access for breaking these terms, what we store about you will be
deleted, and you may not create a new account to get around it.
Sections 6, 7, 11, 12, 14 and 16 keep applying after your use ends.
11. No warranty
Averages.io is provided as it is
We work hard to keep Averages.io accurate and available, but we cannot promise it will
always be correct, complete, secure or working, or that anything saved in it will be kept. It
depends on your school's systems and on internet services that we do not control, and it is
provided without any warranty of any kind, to the extent the law allows.
12. Limits on liability
To the extent the law allows, Averages.io and the person who makes it are not responsible
for any indirect loss, or for any loss that comes from using Averages.io or from being unable
to use it, including decisions made based on anything it shows.
If Averages.io is found responsible for something anyway, the most it will be responsible for
in total is $100.
Some places do not allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you. Nothing in
these terms takes away rights you have by law that cannot be given up.
13. Your data
How your information is handled is set out in the
Privacy Policy, and everything kept about you is listed on
the Your data page.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without
regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
If you have a problem with Averages.io, please email us first at
help@averages.io and give us 30 days to try to sort it
out. If we cannot, any dispute will be handled by the state or federal courts located in
California.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, the date at the top of this page will change, and if a
change is significant we will make a reasonable effort to let you know in the app before it
takes effect. If you keep using Averages.io after the new terms take effect, you agree to them.
You can stop using Averages.io at any time.
16. The fine print
- These terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Your data page, are the whole
agreement between you and Averages.io, and they replace any earlier versions.
- If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we do not enforce part of these terms straight away, we can still enforce it
later.
- You may not transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else. We may transfer ours
if Averages.io changes hands, and these terms will keep protecting you.
- We will send any notices through the app, or by email if you have given us one.
